Finding the Right Hearing Aid
With so many options, choosing a hearing aid can be overwhelming. Our audiologists are here to help you find the best fit for your hearing needs and lifestyle — and ensure it's properly programmed.

Quick tips to keep in mind:

  • Choose a device that can adapt over time (most last 3–5 years)

  • Today’s tech reduces background noise but won’t restore perfect hearing

  • Ask about warranty coverage

  • Check your insurance for hearing aid benefits

Hearing aids can help you stay connected.

If you’ve been diagnosed with hearing loss, today’s hearing aids offer powerful support. While styles and features vary, all hearing aids are designed to amplify sound and make everyday conversations easier. Research shows they not only improve communication with loved ones but also enhance overall quality of life and support better long-term health.

BAHA

A Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) is a surgically implanted device that uses bone conduction to transmit sound, ideal for those who can’t use traditional hearing aids. It's often recommended for people with conductive or mixed hearing loss, single-sided deafness, or chronic ear infections. The device includes a titanium implant, abutment, and sound processor. Once the implant fuses with the bone, the external components are fitted and programmed by an audiologist.

Hearing Aid Maintenance & Repair

Regular cleaning and care help extend the life of your hearing aids. If you experience sound issues, discomfort, or damage, an audiologist can inspect, clean, adjust, or repair your device as needed.

Hearing Aid Accessories

Basic accessories (essential for maintenance):

Hearing Aid Batteries

Hearing Aid Batteries
Most hearing aids use zinc-air batteries, which activate when their sticker is removed. They come in four sizes and can last 3 to 20 days depending on use and size.

Battery tips:

  • Store in a cool, dry place

  • Remove batteries when not in use to extend both battery and device life

  • If removal isn’t possible, turn off the device

  • Avoid carrying batteries loose—metal contact can cause short circuits

Proper care helps you get the most from each battery.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)
ALDs amplify sound and reduce background noise, improving speech clarity and understanding. They’re especially helpful in noisy settings or for entertainment.

Common ALD types:

  • Telephone amplifiers – Boost phone call volume

  • FM systems – Great for classrooms; use radio signals

  • Infrared systems – Ideal for theaters; use light signals that stay within the room

  • Inductive loop systems – Use electromagnetic fields; no receiver needed

All types typically transmit sound wirelessly to enhance the listening experience.
